The National Cotton Association of Nigeria has set up a caretaker committee in Kogi state to manage its affairs following the
disbandment of its executive.
A statement from the national Secretariat Kaduna, signed by the national President of the association, Anibe Achimugu and Secretary General Hassan Buhari Tafida which was made available to the press, the executive of the association in Kogi state has been dissolved.
Accordingly, Mr Danjuma Egbunu has been appointed as the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee while Aziz Danladi will serve as Secretary to manage its affairs before election early next year.
Other members include Hajia Rabi Bello,vice Chairman, Muhammad Yunusa PRO, Moses Olorunipa Assistant Secretary, Joel Ejajah as Treasurer. Others are Solomon Kekere Legal Adviser, Eleson Yakubu Auditor, Emmanuel Ibrahim Organizing Secretary and Abel Egunibi as Ex Officio member..

Irked by the failure of cotton farming the national body suspended the executive led by Mr Akubo King a one time gubernatorial aspirant, due to alleged corruption, misappropriation, maladministration, and mismanagement of the ANCHOR borrowers programme on cotton farming in Kogi state.
The Central Bank and Ministry of Agriculture have streamlined programme to revive cotton farming across the country to diversify sources of economic development with the view to lessen total dependence on the oil sector.
Experts in agriculture have said that the entire Kogi state is arable for cotton production and if properly harnessed could earn a lot of revenue ,economic advancement as well as revive and feed the moribund textile industries across the country.
It would be recalled that the textile industry was a major employer of labour in the past decades .
