We have never had it so good in education- Kogi Commissioner for Education.


 

The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones has disclosed that the Education Sector have never had it so good like it is presently enjoying under Gov. Yahaya Bello.

 

 

Hon. Jones, who was represented by Pastor Emmanuel Idenyi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, made the disclosure at the award presentation to Gov. Yahaya Bello at the Stewardship Newsmagazine Award, Public Lecture and Award Ceremony in recognition of the Governor’s outstanding contributions to the education sector in the State.

The Commissioner who also got an award for his contributory role in supporting the efforts of Gov. Bello in the Education Sector, said since the creation of state, Gov. Bello has surpassed records by his unprecedented budgetary provision to the Education Sector.

Hon. Jones listed the full accreditation of courses at the Prince Abubakar University, Anyigba, the massive transformation at the Kogi State Polytechnic, College of Education, Ankpa, and several of the State’s higher institution as historic.

The Commissioner particularly praised Gov. Bello for establishing the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara within a year and in the period of Covid19 as outstanding, commended the ongoing construction of GYB Model schools across the State as eloquent testament of the love the governor placed on educational transformation.

Hon. Jones described the 30% budgetary provision for education in the 2022 budget as first of its kind in the history of the funding for education in the country, described the award as the needed impetus that would spur the Governor to do more, commended the Stewardship Magazine.

While pointing out that education remains the best legacy that can be bequeathed to the younger generation, lauded the Youths and women inclusion style of Gov. Bello as worthy of emulation.

The Commissioner said the award is coming at a better time, described his grassroots efforts to improve education as timely and commendable.

He assured that the Award would spur his Ministry to sustain and improve on the achievements of Gov. Bello in education, said no efforts would be left unturned in making the State the leading light in education in the region.

In a welcome remarks at the occasion, the Publisher of the Stewardship Newsmagazine, Barr. Zacchaeus Dare Michael, said the award for Gov. Bello is in recognition of the outstanding performances of the Governor in the Educational Development of the State.

According to the Publisher, said the theme of the 2021 Public Lecture: Gov. Bello: A Project For Generational Renaissance is the Magazines efforts to drum support for the governor’s presidency, added that it is also hinged on the establishment of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, the infrastructure Development witnessed in all the State tertiary institutions and the massive construction and reconstruction of GYB model schools across the state.

The Publisher concluded by saying that the award which is the Magazines contributions to the Presidential aspiration of Gov. Bello, opined that a man who can secure a State surrounded by ten other states and has contributed outstandingly to Education like Gov. Bello, is fit to be President of Nigeria, reason the public lecture is in his honour.

In his presentation, a seasoned Journalist and Publisher of the Nigerian Post Newspaper, Abu Micheal, described Gov. Bello as A Project For Generational Renaissance, urged parties to rather than be concerned about zoning and other mundane qualities in choosing the country’s President, Capacity and Performance which marks out Gov. Yahaya Bello, he opined should be the deciding factors in who becomes the country’s President.

The Guest Speaker commended the efforts of the Governor to secure and unite the State, described Unity and Security as the nation’s major challenge that requires the capacity of people like Gov. Bello in 2023.
