Ododo’s administration will not deviate from making, Education, Teachers welfare priority – Education Commissioner
…Ministry will focus more on supervision, monitoring, inspection of Schools.
The seriousness placed by the present administration of Gov Ahmed Usman Ododo as far as education is concerned has been reiterated, with assurances that the administration will not deviate from making the welfare and how teachers would be catered for as topmost priority.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology Hon Wemi Jones made the disclosure today while on a visit to Government Science Secondary School, Lokoja.
Hon. Jones explained that the present administration in the State is resolved on sustaining the top priority the previous administration placed on education as topmost on the thematic agenda.
Towards ensuring that standard of teaching is maintained in schools across the State, the Ministry of Education, the Commissioner explained would focus more on supervision, monitoring and inspection of Schools.
He said modalities has been put in place for various teams from the Ministry to visit schools on regular basis to monitor the quality of teaching, said the government will not shy away from relieving any teacher of his employment if found wanting in the discharge of his duties.
Hon. Jones warned that the Ministry will also not fail to terminate redeploy, any teacher found on the wrong side of the law, urged them to teach in accordance with curriculum.
The State Government Hon. Jones disclosed will in the new dispensation pay more attention and focus more on primary and secondary education, described it as the cradle for sustainable education.
He noted that the State now prides itself of having many tertiary institutions, reasons why the cradle cannot be ignored, maintaining that any teacher found unusable will be replaced, redeployed or have his or her appointment terminated.
Hon. Jones expressed confidence that Teachers in the GSS Lokoja will perform optimally, insisting that with 72 teachers, much is expected from the teachers.
He advised the Teachers to obtain and get themselves acquainted with the State Education law, warned that any Teacher caught aiding and abetting examination malpractice would be severely dealt with.
Hon. Jones charged the Teachers on the need to be discipline, stressed that the Ministry will ensure compliance and enforcement of the State education law, insisting that any earring teacher caught on the wrong side of the law would not be spared.
