PRESS BRIEFING ON THE SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE 29TH EDITION OF NIGERIA MEDIA MERIT AWARD (NMMA) 2021

I am pleased to welcome the gentlemen of the press to this Press Briefing to establish the security arrangements for the 29th Edition of Nigeria Media Merit Award taking place in Kogi State from 28th – 31st October, 2021.

Let me first appreciate the Board of Trustee of NMMA for the choice of Kogi State to host the prestigious Event this year.

As a security expert, I captured the opportunity of the hosting rights under 2 major areas.

a. NMMA must have put into consideration the relative peace and stability the State is currently enjoying.b. An opportunity for the State under the leadership of Alh. Yahaya Bello to further exhibit our robust security architecture which could provide for more investments in the State.

As the Chairman Security Sub-Committee for the Program, I am pleased to confirm to you that the State is set in all areas particularly in term of security arrangements put in place so far.

In order to ensure a secured environment, the Security Sub-Committee has been meeting to review the security needed for the great Event.

I am to inform you that, the State is safe, peaceful and secure to successfully host the program.

In the past, we have tried to build a peaceful State knowing fully-well that, peace is the bed rock for meaningful development and for peaceful co-existence.

You are aware, His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello put high premium in the security of lives and properties of the citizens, this have been the hallmark of the Government since the inception of his administration.

This has been further strengthened towards the preparation for the hosting of the 2021 Edition of NMMA.

As part of the efforts put in place, we are ensuring all roads leading to the State are safe and secured.

Our plan is to pilot and safely convey and return all delegates and guest to the Event from Abuja – Airport.

We will also put the needed surveillance on all other routes leading to the State Capital. Also safety during the Media Tour across the 3 Senatorial Districts has also been put into consideration.

Surveillance would be increased within the State Capital and particularly the venues and Hotel accommodations.

The security agencies are fully prepared to host the event. We know the importance of the event and the high personalities expected.

Just as we have been able to keep the State safe as one of the most secured State in Nigeria today, we will increase the tempo to ensure a successful Program.

His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello has directed the 21 LG Chairmen to work assiduously with federal security agencies in their LGA as well our vigilantes and hunters.

All roads must be put under 24 Hours surveillance.We are designing a compact system that will monitor the roads, streets, environments to ensure continuous peace in the State.

We have uncommon system in security architecture that is peculiar to our geographical location, the people and our topography.

We shall continue to increase and review our human and technical intelligence that will guarantee safety of all citizens not only during the NMMA but even beyond.

This is the responsibility of a true Government and the current Administration in Kogi State will not fail to put safety of lives and properties first.

We therefore welcome all delegates, media Team organizations and guests to the 29th Edition of Nigeria Media Merit Award 2021.
