KGSG Inaugurates KOSIPA and KOSEC


 

Kogi State Government has inaugurated the state Investment Promotion Council with a charge to members to improve investment drive and the economic status of the state.

Similarly, the state Economic Council has been inaugurated.

Speaking in a message to the ceremony held at Government House, Lokoja, the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello stressed the importance of investment to the economic growth of any society.

The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Folashade Ayoade, noted that with the location of Kogi state, other states in the North Central region will bring their products to the State for inspection by the export regulatory agencies before being shipped to Lagos and outside the country.

The Council has Governor Yahaya Bello as Chairman and a reknown industrialist, Chief Kola Jamodu as Vice Chairman.

Members of the Council include; the Commissioners of Justice, Finance, Commerce and Industry, Agriculture, Culture and Tourism, Solid Minerals and the Focal Person of the Social Investment Program, Abubakar Onyekehi among others.

Responding, the Vice Chairman, Chief Kola Jamodu, assured that the team will work hard to justify the confidence reposed in them and place Kogi in its place of pride among the comity of states.

While Inaugurating the State Economic Council on behalf of the Governor, the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Folashade Ayoade urged members to strive to increase the internal generated revenue.

The Council has the state Governor as Chairman while the Commissioner of Finance and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Ashiru Idris is Alternate Chairman with some Commissioners and the twenty-one Local Government Chairmen as members.

In a remark on behalf of members, the Alternate Chairman, Ashiru Idris expressed appreciation for the appointment and promised to work for the development of the State through improvement in Revenue.
