His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Kogi State and Member, Board of Trustees, Igala Education Foundation, Chief (Dr) Edward Onoja, today, met with the pioneer First Class Graduate of the Department of History and International Studies, Kogi State University, via a meet and greet session, celebrating the young achiever whom is an indigene of Olamaboro Local Government of Kogi State.
Ms. Mary bagged this feat at the age of 23. Speaking, the Deputy Governor encouraged her for the towering feat, extolling how proud he is of her. He disclosed that in the same measure of excitement, his wife, Her Excellency, Mrs Ejura Okee Mercy Onoja has adopted her in support of scholarship to fund her masters as part of this year’s IEF’s award to 39 First Class Graduates, Mary, making them 40, which is an increase from that of 2019 with a total number of 26. Representative of IEF Proffessor Omada of NOUNS revealed that by the end of 2022, if this culture continous, over 100 First Class Graduates of Igala extraction across Nigeria must have been empowered to acquire their post graduate education which would contribute immensely to the academia, business world, families, Igala land, Kogi State and Nigeria at large. He acknowledged the Deputy Governors unprecedented support of IEF’s vision which clearly has raised the bar from N70,000 to the present mark of N500,000. It is worthy to note that stakeholders from all parts of Kogi State and other Nigerians have accepted to lend their support to this noble effort by IEF, Chief Onoja, disclosed.
Igala Education Foundation (IES), was a brainchild of late Igala Icon and former Vice Chancellor, Kogi State University, Prof F.S Idachaba of blessed memory.
