Maigari of Lokoja Confers Traditional Title of Nagenu of Lokoja on Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk
The Maigari of Lokoja, His Royal Highness, Alh. (Dr.) Ibrahim Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi IV has found the Kogi State Commissioner of Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk worthy to confer on him the prestigious traditional title of the Nagenu of Lokoja.
In a letter of notification of conferment of the traditional title on him dated 24th March, 2025, the Maigari stated inter alia ” considering your enormous wealth of experience, hard work, dedication, unwavering commitments to issues that affects Lokoja, your general exposure to circumstances of life and above all, your outstanding performance in the affairs of the growth and development of Lokoja township, I am elated and most delighted to confer on you the prestigious and reverred traditional title of Nagenu of Lokoja in exercise of the power conferred on me as the Maigarin Lokoja and Chairman, Lokoja Emirate Council “.
The Maigari who further stated in the notification letter that “this happy development is the ultimate reward for your selfless sacrifice, devotion to a cause and the climax of a worthy capping of a glorious career” congratulated him and offered him his best wishes.
Nagenu in nupe language connotes moonshine and describes a fellow associated or known or has an uncommon attributes of bringing progress and development to the Kingdom. Nagenu is an agent of prosperity in all fronts.
Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers. He holds a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Federal University of Oye- Ekiti State.
He was the immediate past Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Lokoja Branch and holds a traditional title of Gabi Sayyadi of Eggan Kingdom.
The Nagenu of Lokoja is married and blessed with children.
