By joshua Hiroshima Youth Ambassador Meets Senator Ndoma-Egba, as Start-Rite School Begins New Session with Renewed Vision
A student of Start-Rite International School in Abuja, Abigail Oyindamola Akinlade, who proudly represented Nigeria at the 2026 Hiroshima Global Youth Forum in Japan, has paid a courtesy visit to ex-Senate Leader and Chairman of the school’s Advisory Board, Distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Media and Communication Unit of Start-Rite Schools on Saturday.
The global summit, organized by the Hiroshima Prefectural Government and the Hiroshima Organization for Global Peace (HOPe), brought together selected international high school delegates from different countries.
According to the statement, Abigail shared her experience at the summit with the legal luminary and presented her appointment as an Ambassador of the Hiroshima Global Youth Forum to him.
The statement reads: “As the Start-Rite Schools community settles into a new academic session, it does so with a renewed commitment to developing young people whose education is measured not only by academic achievement, but by the confidence to engage with the world, the character to lead responsibly, and the capacity to create positive change.
“Fresh from representing Nigeria at the Hiroshima Global Youth Forum in Japan, Start-Rite student Abigail Oyindamola Akinlade paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Advisory Board, Distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, OFR, CON, LL.D., SAN, to share her experience and present her appointment as an Ambassador of the Hiroshima Global Youth Forum.
“The honour was conferred by Yokota Mika, Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture and President of the Hiroshima Organisation for Global Peace, in recognition of Abigail’s contribution to the international programme.
“Congratulating Abigail during the meeting, the Chairman described her achievement as the kind of outcome that reinforces Start-Rite’s commitment to preparing students for leadership beyond the classroom. Her appointment is the latest expression of an educational philosophy the school has pursued for years.
“A few weeks earlier during a two-day strategic retreat with members of the management team and a whole school meeting with staff, Senator Ndoma-Egba, guided by the theme, ‘From Activity to Impact: Every Student Thriving, Every Family Engaged and Every Staff Growing,’ challenged the entire school community to shift focus from activity to impact, urging every member of staff to judge success not by the number of programmes delivered, but by the lives transformed.
“He called on staff to strengthen the systems, structures, and learning experiences that will move Start-Rite closer to its aspiration of becoming The School… a model of what true education should represent.
“Long before Abigail stood on the global stage in Hiroshima, she had immersed herself in the wider curriculum at Start-Rite through leadership development, public speaking, Model United Nations conferences, Global Citizenship Education, Education for Sustainable Development, community engagement, and other enriching experiences.
“Together, these opportunities gave her the confidence, perspective, and global outlook that earned her a fully funded place at the Hiroshima Global Youth Forum where young leaders from across the world engaged in conversations on peace, sustainability, and global cooperation while working together to develop practical responses to challenges facing their generation. Abigail distinguished herself throughout the programme, culminating in her appointment as a Hiroshima Global Youth Forum Ambassador.
“As education continues to evolve, universities and employers are placing increasing value on qualities such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, adaptability, leadership, and the ability to solve complex problems. These qualities are cultivated through learning experiences that encourage students to think beyond the classroom and apply their learning to real life situations.
