The LGEA Nursery and Primary School Lokongoma, Lokoja, on Thursday celebrated her 10th Graduation, and Prize Giving Day ceremony in a grand style.
In her remarks, the Head Teacher of the school, Hajiya Kulu Ibrahim, said a total of 88 Primary Six learners were graduating to mark the occasion of the 10th graduation ceremony of the school.
She, however noted that Miss Wosila Abdullahi, who was supposed to be among the graduating learners, lost her life in the Felele tanker inferno alongside with her sister, Faiza Abdullahi of Primary Five; a minute silence was observed for them.
She commended the PTA Chairman, his executive, and the entire parents for their support especially contribution towards the commencement of the perimeter fencing of the school.
She further expressed her gratitude to the entire management and staff of the school for their efforts and commitment towards the development of the school.
She enumerated some of her achievements in the school on her assumption of office since November 4, 2019 as head teacher.
According to her, the achievements include: renovation of school borehole, payment of outstanding NEPA bills, provision of security light, repair and provision of Dual desks for learners, among others.
Mrs Ibrahim thanked the NGOs and other individuals who had donated writing materials to the school, while urging others to emulate the same gesture.
She noted that the school was still having challenges in the area of completing the perimeter fencing, security, additional block of four classrooms, furniture for learners and total renovation of the school.
The head teacher advised the granduands to be focused and never take liberty for license, saying, ”the world is not as simple as you think; if you want to succeed in life, you must work hard”.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Parents Teachers’ Association (PTA) of the school, Mr Isaac Wambebe, thanked the head teacher and teachers for their commitment and resilience in taking care of the pupils especially in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
Wambebe further thanked parents for their support and understanding while urging them to be more involved in PTA meetings where some critical decisions were being taken.
In her vote of thanks, the school Head girl, Trumphant Afolabi, thanked the teachers for their teachings and guidance all through their stay in school.
Afolabi appealed to government to wake up to their responsibilty by ensuring that their teachers were paid their full salary.
”We are appealing to the government to pay our teachers their full salary”, she said.
The highlight of the occasion was the cultural display by Igala, Ebira, Yoruba and Bassa-Nge groups; Choreography display, dance competition, and presentation of gifts and prizes to pupils.
