EXCERPT FROM THE MEETING OF THE STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL OF KOGI STATE GOVERNMENT HELD ON MAY 17, 2023 AT THE COUNCIL HALL OF THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE, LUGARD HOUSE, LOKOJA.
The meeting began at 11:30 AM with the National Anthem, followed by the Opening Remarks of the Governor, who presided as Chairman-In-Council, welcoming the members to the meeting.
DECISIONS
1- Council approved the establishment of a State University in Okun Land, located in the Kogi West Senatorial District of the State. The council acknowledged that establishing a university in Kogi West would alleviate the admission challenges faced by the youth of Okunland and the State in general, who struggle to gain admission into the limited number of catchment area universities in Nigeria.
2-The State Executive Council approved the procurement of three modern, advanced fire-fighting trucks for Kogi State Fire Agency.
This approval aims to enhance the capacity of the Kogi State Fire Agency, enabling it to effectively and promptly respond to distress calls regarding fire outbreaks from institutions and the general public.
3- Council received reports on various ongoing projects across the state, including the construction of internal roads at the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Zone 8 roundabout-Crusher road, Itakpe-Okene road, and others.
4- Memos to ratify previously approved projects were also considered.
The meeting concluded at 2:30 PM.
