The President of Aguobasinmwin Movement World-Wide, Mr Iyamu Osaro Culture, has called on Alhaji Asari Dokubo not to take the hospitable and peace-loving nature of Edo people for granted.
Iyamu stated that,Edo people are hospitable and peace-loving and urge all stakeholders in Nigeria to prioritize unity and lawful engagement over rhetoric that can inflame tensions.
A statement personally signed by him, Iyamu noted that he remained deeply committed to peace in Edo and across the Niger Delta.
While recalling close engagement with Asari in the past “I did everything possible to be on ground at Agbor Road Bypass on the eve of the 2012 Edo Governorship election to rescue Alhaji Asari Dokubo boys who were caught up in security operations on the eve of 2012 Governorship elections.
“That experience taught me one lesson that no one is superior than other, to the law or to dialogue. As a young man then, I was able to embark on a mission Alhaji Asari Dokubo could not face just to save him and his boys that came to support Oshiomhole re-election bid in 2012. Thus, when ever Alhaji Asari Dokubo speak about Edo State, I always remember the day I walked through horrible night to save him and his boys.
“As President of AIGUOBASINMWIN MOVEMENT WORLD-WIDE, I remain committed to the protection of Edo heritage through peaceful and lawful means.
“I therefore call on Alhaji Asari Dokubo to exercise restraint because matters of history, boundaries, and ancestral lands are sensitive and are best resolved through Benin Traditional Council, legal institutions, and government-mediated dialogue. Oya Yasinmwin evbomwan the statement added.
