…Says contractors Handling the Road Have Abandoned Site.
The Kogi Works Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr Abubakar Ohere has urged the Federal Government to order the Contractors handling Ganaja Junction to Ganaja Village road to return back to site, expressed dismay that the contractors have abandoned the road.
The Commissioner made the appeal while inspecting ongoing works across the state and when he made a stop over to inspect work at the ongoing Ganaja flyover bridge, expressed dismay that the contractors have worsened the state of the road.
Engr. Ohere disclosed that abandoning the road is not in the best interest of the State, urged the FG to intervene instead of living it the way it is, it would have been better the FG left it the way it was before now.
According to the Commissioner, ” If you do stone base, the maximum it can last is twenty one days but if you live it for three months like the case of the Ganaja road, and you are not working on it, it becomes very retrogressive”, urged the FG to intervene and push the contract to finish.
The Commissioner for Works and Housing, expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the Ganaja flyover bridge, said Kogi has been turned into a huge construction site courtesy of Gov. Yahaya Bello, assuring that the Ganaja flyover bridge would be delivered as planned.
Engr. Ohere disclosed that the bulk of the state’s resources is been chanalled into infrastructure development inspite paucity of funds, said Gov. Yahaya Bello has turned the State into a big construction site for the benefit of the people.
The Commissioner once again reiterated the commitment of Gov. Yahaya Bello’s administration to deliver the Ganaja flyover by December this year, said having achieved the level of work thus far, it is possible to deliver the Ganaja flyover bridge by the planned date.
The Commissioner disclosed that so far fifty three piles have been dugged, said the construction company is taking its time to ensure that the solid foundation that would stand the test of time is laid for the bridge.
He disclosed that from next week the work would move to the next stage of capping, casing, mounting of hangers, bitumen, expressed satisfaction that the drain work and platforms for the street lighting is also ongoing.
He commended motorists for there patience and understanding with the construction company and the government, assuring that when completed the job would be for the betterment of the people.
