2026 LABOUR DAY: KOGI NULGE ACKNOWLEDGES ODODO ADMINISTRATION’S SUPPORT FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT WORKERS
The Kogi State President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Muhammed Sanusi, has extended greetings to local government workers in the state as they mark the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration.
In a statement released in Lokoja on Thursday, Comrade Sanusi acknowledged the dedication of LG workers despite current economic challenges and recognized Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo’s efforts in prioritizing their welfare.
He noted that timely salary payments, the disbursement of leave bonuses, and the processing and payment of promotions have contributed to strengthening grassroots administration and supporting local government staff.
The NULGE President appreciated workers for their continued commitment to providing essential services and encouraged them to maintain professionalism and accountability while remaining united in advancing their interests through the union.
He described the Ododo administration’s engagement with LG workers as a positive development and called on the government to consider further welfare initiatives that would enable local governments to better carry out their responsibilities.
According to him, Workers’ Day serves as a reminder of the contributions and sacrifices of the labour force, especially at the grassroots level. He also expressed the union’s support for the governor’s efforts toward improving the conditions of Kogi workers.
Comrade Sanusi commended the Executive Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission for steps taken to enhance administration at the local level, as well as the State Accountant General for ensuring the smooth management of local government finances.
He further acknowledged the support of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, and affirmed that LG workers remain supportive of the administration’s development agenda.
In closing, the NULGE President wished local government workers continued fulfillment in their roles, saying: “May your hard work be recognized and rewarded, and may you find fulfillment and joy in all that you do.”
