2027: Yahaya’s Sincerity, Accessibility, Empowerment Edge Him Ahead for Ankpa Rep Seat

In a political landscape marked by distance and rhetoric, Hon. Umar Yahaya, member representing Omala State Constituency, is described by constituents as “a different breed of politician.”
Yahaya’s brand rests on sincerity and accessibility. From Abejukolo to Bagana, community leaders cite a lawmaker whose phone line connects, who attends ward meetings without convoy, and who shows up when issues arise. “You don’t need a godfather to see him,” a youth leader said. “He listens first, then acts.”
His empowerment record leads the 8th Assembly. He sponsored vocational training for over 300 youths in tailoring, welding, ICT, and agribusiness, with starter packs at graduation. He gave micro-grants and grinding machines to women cooperatives across Omala’s 11 wards, paid WAEC/NECO fees for indigent students, donated desks to 15+ public schools, and ran medical outreaches in Bagana, Ogodu, and Abejukolo.
For farmers, he distributed fertilizer and seedlings and ran a tractor-hire subsidy during the 2024 planting season. On the floor, he pushed motions on rural roads, farmer-herder conflict, and erosion control.
As 2027 approaches, stakeholders in Ankpa, Omala, and Olamaboro LGAs are weighing track records over slogans. Three factors give Yahaya an edge: proven accessibility modeled at state level; empowerment focused on skills and tools, not handouts; and an issues-based, data-driven style colleagues say the National Assembly needs.
Supporters note his work didn’t wait for election season. “We don’t have to remind him we exist,” a women leader in Ogodu said. “2027 won’t be a gamble for us.”
With early permutations underway for Ankpa Federal Constituency, Yahaya’s mix of sincerity, accessibility, and measurable empowerment positions him as the aspirant to beat.
