Lokoja I Assembly Hopeful Bala Justice Declares Interest, Submits Letter to APC Leaders
… Ex-Budget Adviser Adam Saleh cites grassroots calls, touts record in education, health support; LG Chairman Aloma hails due process
Hon. Adam Saleh, popularly called Bala Justice, has formally declared his bid for the Lokoja I State House of Assembly seat with the submission of a letter of intent to the All Progressives Congress executives in Lokoja Local Government Area.
Saleh, a leading aspirant, submitted the letter Thursday at the APC secretariat in Lokoja.
He was accompanied by Ward E executives, party stalwarts, women leaders, and supporters. The delegation was received by LGA Chairman, Hon. Idris Aloma and other party officials.
“I am here to intimate the leadership of our great party of my intention to contest and to submit my letter of intent,” Bala Justice told the gathering.
A minute of silence was observed during the meeting in honour of the late Hon. Danasabe Muhammad Danasabe, whom the aspirant described as his political mentor.
Saleh said his decision followed persistent calls from party leaders and stakeholders, especially in Ward E. He stressed that effective representation must start with grassroots acceptance.
He also cited Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s charge to aspirants to consult widely with stakeholders across their constituencies before declaring interest.
The former Adviser on Budget at the local government level said he devoted his earnings while in office to education support, healthcare interventions, and empowerment schemes.
“My empowerment programmes have impacted lives through education support, physical development and payment of medical bills,” he said, adding that his projects also promoted religious harmony across communities.
Saleh pledged to justify the people’s confidence if elected and urged party members to take part in the ongoing APC electronic registration exercise.
In his remarks, LG APC Chairman, Hon. Idris Aloma commended the aspirant for respecting party procedure and engaging stakeholders early.
He said Bala Justice understands the challenges facing Lokoja I and expressed confidence in his capacity to address them, while urging him to spread development efforts beyond Ward E.
Also, APC LG executive member Hon. Zubair Yakubu Ndatsu clarified that party officials lack powers to impose candidates but will continue to guide leaders based on consultations. He praised the current secretariat leadership for ongoing reforms.
After the Secretariat meeting, Saleh proceeded to Ward E for consultations with community elders, stakeholders, and members of his family compound ahead of the APC primaries.
