The Executive Director, Challenge Parenthood Initiative, (CPI) Eunice Abimbola Agbogun has called on the Federal and State Government to motivate health workers to increase the uptake of covid-19 vaccines in the country.
Agbogun made the call on Wednesday during an advocacy visit to the ministry of health in Lokoja.
She said findings has it that many health workers are poorly motivated which has negated the success in the uptake of vaccines in the country.
The CPI Executive Director maintained that, poor remuneration of health workers in administering the vaccines has slowed down the uptake of the vaccines adding that, whey they are not motivated, they will be reluctant in discharging their duties.
Agbogun is of the view that, the government should double their efforts in the prompt payment of their stipends to enable them put totally commitment in their work.
She however observed that the country has been suffering from gross inequality in access of covid-19 vaccine.
Speaking on her advocacy programme in the update of the vaccines, Agbogun emphasized that the objective of the campaign is to enhance awareness in the uptake of the vaccine and build stakeholders confidence in the fight against covid-19 pandemic.
Agbogun explained that there is need for citizens to be highly sensitize on preventive measures to curtail the virus from high risk states since Kogi is a transit point to over nine States in Nigeria.
” We are committed to ensure that Kogi is a safe haven for all citizens in the country. CPI is out to compliment government efforts to fight the spread of covid-19 which is currently ravaging the world today” she said.
According to her, the campaign will help to address the myths and misconception associated to the uptake of covid-19 vaccines.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Kogi State Ministry of Health Alonge Daniel Ayo commended CPI in their role towards curtailing the spread of covid-19 in the country.
