UBTH Beneficiaries Smile As Area 3 Charity Ball Proceeds Bring Relief

By Ikhili Ebalu, Benin City
The University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) witnessed a heartwarming moment yesterday as two patients, Enuma Juliet and Ojeikere Raphael, received assistance courtesy of the proceeds from the Area 3 Charity Ball held on April 26, 2025.

Enuma Juliet’s Medical Tests and Continued Care
In a significant development, Enuma Juliet underwent a Brain MRI Scan and Contrast Angiography at Lily Hospital, GRA, Benin City, yesterday. The Area 3 Charity Ball proceeds covered the bill for these diagnostic tests, alleviating the financial burden on her family. The Brain MRI Scan will help diagnose potential brain-related issues, while the Contrast Angiography will provide detailed images of blood vessels in her brain.

After the tests, her bill for admission to Neuro Ward 1 was also settled, ensuring she can continue her treatment without interruption. Additionally, a cash gift was presented to her to support her ongoing care.
Mercy Juliet, Enuma’s sister, was overwhelmed with tears of joy upon receiving the support. “We’re so grateful for your kindness,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion. “Thank you, National Association of Seadogs, Area 3, for your generosity.”
The National Association of Seadogs, Area 3, has promised to follow up on her case, providing ongoing support and monitoring to ensure she receives the best possible care.
Ojeikere Raphael’s Discharge
In another remarkable gesture, Ojeikere Raphael was discharged yesterday after receiving assistance from the Area 3 Charity Ball proceeds.
As Ojeikere Raphael bid farewell to the hospital, his family members couldn’t help but express their heartfelt appreciation. “We’re overwhelmed with gratitude,” his father said, fighting back tears. “This act of kindness has brought us immense relief and allowed us to focus on our loved one’s recovery.”
Dirisu Odion, Area Mate, Area 3 of the National Association of Seadogs, said, “This initiative embodies the spirit of community and compassion that defines who we are. We’re thrilled to support those in need and look forward to continued collaboration with UBTH and other health institutions.”
Ehikioya Uduebor, Capoon of Arabella Deck, added, “Our contribution to the charity ball was a small gesture, but the impact is immense. We’re honored to be part of this noble cause.”
Lateef Owen Osunde, Capoon of San Titanic Deck, noted, “This charity ball’s success demonstrates the power of collective efforts. We’re proud to support our community members in need.”
The beneficiaries and their families extend their heartfelt appreciation to the organizers and donors of the Area 3 Charity Ball. This selfless act has brought hope and relief to those who needed it most.
The Area 3 Charity Ball generosity will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the lives of Enuma Juliet and Ojeikere Raphael. As they continue on their road to recovery, they carry with them a renewed sense of hope and gratitude for the kindness they’ve received.
