As a political stakeholder in the Community, it behooves me the responsibility to air my view on the above subject.
While I choose not to mention names, I will direct my words to state the obvious, believing that the conspiracy of silence will consume my community if not well cultured.
Without doubt, history and records has shown clearly that the position of the Maiyaki of Kupa is not ROTATIONAL but strongly built on Competency, Character, Discipline and of course, on Popular opinion Poll.
Since the death of my Uncle, HRH Alh. Muhammadu Kabir Isa ll, there has been series of unpleasant character assassination by some few individuals within the community. This unfortunately do not guarantee a healthy society moving forward.
It is also on record that only 3 Ruling Houses exists in Abugi that qualify to contest the position of the Maiyaki of Kupa anytime the stool is vacant. Therefore, contestants must always show interest from the existing 3 Ruling Houses, leaving the duty and responsibility to nominate a qualified and generally accepted person, to the Kingmakers like it is applicable in many of the traditional institutions in Nigeria.
The parameters to choose the best and most popular that will guarantee a rancour free society is solemnly the duty of these kingmakers and in doing this, feelings and emotions is usually been touched.
These 3 Ruling Houses are: Gbamace, Api-yako and Api Etsu Landu.
I have observed that the unsubstantiated claims of veiled threat by some few individuals is aimed at sowing the seeds of discord and disruption of peaceful coexistence prevailing in kupa kingdom, and Abugi town in particular.
Where ever the pendulum swings, it is the obvious and with all humility that the Gbamace Ruling House remains the most respected, most reliable and most acceptable Ruling House in Abugi and Kupa Kingdom. Only a committed and an unbiased findings will attest to this testimony.
I therefore appeal to the authorities involved to allow the dreams, aspirations and prayers of the majority of Kupas to reflect on this selection of the Next Etsu Kupa Maiyaki.
This will undoubtedly guarantee our collective, peace, unity and progress.
I commend His Excellency Gov. Yahaya Bello for his doggedness and progressive leadership style which he has displayed over the years. No doubt, your administration has repositioned the state for future development.
