I, Timi Iyela, have in the recent-past years, traversed the length and breadth of our Federal Constituency, all I see is a deficit in the presence of governance. A million times and more, it has broken my heart, and I am pushed to do something to change the narratives for good.
To this end, I began to ask questions around. I began to put together a team of enthusiasts from both Local Governments of our dear Federal Constituency, enthusiasts who share in my dreams for a New and Better Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency.
As God will have it, we began to meet, and by the year 2021 we decided that we could start contributing our little resources together to embark on philanthropic missions for our people, the good people of Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency.
By the same year 2021, we had commenced outreaches and philanthropic missions to our people, the good people of Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency.
Seeing the bond that was building up and seeing how the people across both Local Governments were fast keying into our New and Better Okene/Ogori Magongo agenda, it then dawned on me that we could look for somebody amongst us to help us go to seek a bigger platform to bridge the gap and at least, attend to the needs of the Federal Constituency entirely as soon as the next election cycle is due.
After due consultations, knowing the history and core needs of our Federal Constituency I took up the challenge of joining the race to represent our dear Federal Constituency, and by that decision, I joined the 2023 House of Representatives race with a bid to represent us, the good people of Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency.
To see the dream become a reality, knowing the peculiarity of how it is only a political party that can be voted for in an election, and not an individual as Nigeria does not practice independent candidacy, after a wide consultation with the elders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths and women in almost all the communities in Okene and Ogori Magongo Local Governments, I decided to pursue my New and Better Okene/Ogori Magongo ambition under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party that was established on the basis of ideals and respect for the rule of law and the very tenets of democracy, a party that truly ensures power is for the people, by the people and to the people that cast the votes, a party makes it clear that those in power hold the power in trust on behalf of the voters and on behalf of the population as against on behalf of any oneself.
By May 22, 2022, my party, the PDP will be going in for the primary election to elect a flagbearer for the election that will usher in our next Federal Constituency representative.
I have consulted widely with my party leaders and party stakeholders, I am persuaded that I have their massive support. I am glad that after months of stakeholder-engagements at party level in both Local Governments, they have keyed in solidly onto our New and Better agenda. They believe that with me, a New and Better Ogori Magongo is possible. They are excited ahead, in both Okene and Ogori Magongo, as they agree with me and with a vast majority of us that indeed Okene/Ogori Magongo has suffered from the grip of underdevelopment and under-representation long enough and that 2023 is the time for a New and Better experience.
I am not resting on my oars thus far, rather I daily draw my inspiration in this race from your support that has been unrelenting and growing in leaps and bounds in every day that passes by; in both Okene and Ogori Magongo Local Governments.
Thank you all for your suggestions, thank you all for your advices, thank you all for your supports, thank you all for your words of encouragement. I want you all to know, my team and I would never have been able to come this far without your support. I can only ask for more of your supports as May 22nd draws near. Continue to help me engage my party leaders and my party delegates around you, continue to remind them about me and our plan to make a New and Better Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency possible.
Till we see each other again, continue to tell somebody to tell somebody that Timi is coming with #NewAndBetter to give us the Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency of our dreams, come 2023.
