It is not a good Sunday for Nigerian football as the Super Eagles have been bundled out of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Algeria beat them 1-0, on a day that Alex Iwobi bagged a red card.
The punishment is a fruit of carelessness as he ought to have known better that he dare not step on anyone’s ankle.
But the card did not have much impact as the Eagles even played better than the first half they were 11.
While the team failed to create enough chances, the Tunisians too did not create many but were smart to shoot at the goal at the slightest opportunity.
Coach Austen Eguavoen has his own blame too as he failed to read the match well, romancing a strategy that he ought to have seen was failing.
Chukwueze’s outside right positioning did not help the game as he had to look for his left most of the times, thus wasting precious time.
Part of the failing of the coach is that he never introduce Ahmed Musa until towards the end of the game – Musa, whose speed and experience might have helped the team to make a difference.
