Community, Ilorin east local government area of Kwara state has called for the provision of security post in the community to addres the security challenges facing the community

Chairman of the Community Elder Abiodun Afolabi made the call on behalf of the community at a security submmit organised by Sabo-Oke Ilupeju Community in Ilorin East Local government area of Kwara State at the weekend

Stakeholders in the security agencies such as Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps NSCDC, Nigeria Police force NPF were at the security summit

The community call for synergy between the community and security personnel (police and Civil Defence) in curbing crimes in the community

They also stressed the need to employ security private personnel for the community and liase with all other security personnel with prompt coperation with them.

They also discourage indecent dressing among youths in the community

They also seek the cooperation of IBEDC authority in adequate provision of power supply especially at night amongst others

The traditional head of the community, Magaji Aree 2, Alhaji Abdulkadri Yahaya Olorunnisomo said the cooperation within the community and security agent is most important added that the security agents should always come to the aid of community when they are needed

The acting State Commandant Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps NSCDC Kwara State Command DCC Jonah Gabriel who was represented by the Chief Suprerintendent of Corps CSC Salman Surajudeen, Divisional officer NSCDC Akerebiata Division, appreciated the leaders of the community for the initiative and urged them to put more efforts to have secure and safe society as security is collective responsibility for all.

He noted that sharing of timely intelligences is paramount as it would assist the security agencies greatly.

He urged members of the community to be more vigilant and set up a community watch to share with them any suspicious individuals, persons or action as necessary action is being taken to eradicate criminals in the society.

“We also tasked them on flash points in the community so that necessary action can been taken

Resolution of the summit if implemented would go a long way in tackling the security challenges identify in the community” he said

Representative of Divisional Police officer DPO A Division Ilorin Mr Pius Jegede urged the community to always report any suspicious moves or activities in the community by any hoodlums for prompt response from their division and promise to work in close relationship with the community

Present at the submit were representative of security personnel, police and Civil Defence, Church leaders, and mosque representative within the community, shops owners, landlords and land ladies, Community exco amongst others.
