As Kogi State House of Assembly commenced the third legislative session, the Speaker, Rt Hon Matthew Kolawole has urged the lawmakers to double their efforts to regain lost ground brought about by COVID-19 pandemic and the long period of industrial action embarked upon by Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN)
Rt Hon Matthew Kolawole who made this appeal while presiding over plenary sitting, also implored the lawmakers to renew efforts to ensure rapid actualization of the legislative agenda of the 7th Assembly.
He said the lawmakers must try to pass pending bills so as to ensure that their collective desires to make quality laws for good governance do not become a mirage .
Speaking further, he disclosed that the celebration of the commencement of another legislative session which could not hold due to PASAN’s industrial action would be scheduled for another day.
Meanwhile, the Speaker read letters forwarded by the Executive Governor, Alh Yahaya Bello.
According to the first letter , Governor Bello forwarded a bill to repeal the law that grant special grants to former Governors, their deputies and others in the state due to financial constraints.
Another letter from the Governor also forwarded a name, Akintola Muritala Kolade for screening as member of Kogi State Judicial Service Commission and another name, Saliu Omeiza Otu for screening as Chairman Kogi State Public Procurement.
About five bills passed their first readings.
