Edo Speaker Suspends 3 Lawmakers Over Impeachment Plot

The Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Blessing Agbebaku on Monday suspended three lawmakers over alleged plot to impeach him and other Principal officers (POC)of the house.
The three suspended lawmakers are Mr Donald Okogbe( PDP Akoko-Edo11) Bright Iyamu(PDP Orhionmwon South) and Adeh Isibor, (Esan North East 1)
At resumption of plenary in Benin, Agbebaku alleged that the three suspended members were being influenced by external forces to cause chaos and remove the leadership of the house.
He also alleged that some persons brought native doctors into the house at midnight on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 to make some demonic incantations and dropped charms in the assembly complex.
Responding during the rowdy session, the three suspended lawmakers were seen screaming “Mr speaker you do not have the right to unilaterally suspend any member (s) of the house.
” You must call for votes. Allow members vote on the matter”, the victims shouted.
It will be recalled that Mr Donald Okogbe( PDP Akoko-Edo11) was the only member who did not sign the petition of Impeachment against the former speaker , Philip Shaibu.
