Eminent Nigerians on Sunday graced the 59th birthday thanksgiving service in honor of the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, as he was described as God sent to humanity.
In his bible text taken from the book of John 1:6, Pastor Kayode Ajibade who is the church chaplain of Chapel of Grace Sanctuary, Adankolo Campus, noted that the life of the celebrant can be likened to the qualities read in the text.
The Chaplin further disclosed that Prof. Akinwunmi is a servant leader who has to a large extent rendered service to the church and also the University.
He further urged him to continually seek the face of God, while thanking God over his life and family.
Earlier in his remark, the celebrant, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi thanked God for his life and family and how God has enabled him to do his will.
He disclosed that his sojourn on earth has been a testimony of God’s goodness and faithfulness, especially when God saved his life in 2016.
Prof. Akinwumi thanked the church, ministers, family, friends and associates for their continuous prayers and support, stressing that all that he has been able to achieve was due to collective support and corporation from everyone around him.
In his goodwill message, Bishop John Ibenu commended the VC for his identification with the body of Christ and also for flustering peace and unity in the university.
He further reassured the continuous support of the Christian body when called upon, adding that their prayers are always with him.
Also, the head of Jama’at Nasir Islam, Amb. Usman Bello, lauded the VC for being a good ambassador of Christ, stressing that Prof. Akinwumi is a man who does not discriminate.
Still on the goodwill message, the Obaro of Kabba, His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi thanked the VC for being a good ambassdor of Okunland, adding that his achievement with the university is a sign that more project and development will recorded under him.
Similarly, Dr. Olorunfemi thanked the bc for putting his faith in action with clear results and for the good job done he has done so far at the university.
In their remarks, the state special adviser on security to the state governor, Commander Jerry Omodara, and Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Victor Omofaye both commended the VC’s simplicity and his love for humanity.
They further commended his good work on the state of security in the university, while assuring him of their support, especially towards the development of the institution and his service to the house of God.
Speaking on behalf of both staff and students of the university, Prof. John said that Prof. Akinwumi is a service provider who has changed the face of the university in all ramifications
While describing the VC as a Man Ordained for the Season, he thanked the wife for being a supporting help and companion to him.
Highlights of the Thanksgiving are; cutting of cake, special thanking, donation towards the church, gift presentation, special prayers to the family and others.
