OMALA PDP: Hon. Shittu Idris Haruna declares for State Assembly

… OGODU DEMANDS HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY TICKET, SAYS ‘ENOUGH IS ENOUGH’
Community stakeholders and party faithfuls gathered yesterday in Omala Local Government Area with a unified message to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership: if the party is serious about winning the House of Assembly seat, the ticket must go to Ogodu District.
The Consensus of opinion was made at the official declaration of Hon. Shittu Idris Haruna, for State Assembly Election.
He promised inclusive representation, expressed optimism that he has all takes to offer purposeful representation that will attract the much talked about Democracy dividends.
Speakers at the gathering stressed that only a candidate from Ogodu can deliver victory for the PDP at this time, given the current political realities on the ground. They warned that anything short of that would relegate the party to merely making up the numbers in the race.
The leaders pointed out that among Omala’s four zones — Olidihi, Udaba, Omala, and Abejukolo — Ogodu has consistently delivered the highest votes since the creation of the local government. Yet, they noted, it has never been given the opportunity to contest for, let alone produce, a member of the House of Assembly. In contrast, the other three zones have each taken their turn twice.
“So what is Ogodu’s crime?” one of the leaders asked, capturing the mood of frustration among attendees.
The stakeholders declared that Ogodu is no longer willing to be sidelined or used for electoral advantage without corresponding representation. They emphasized that the zone is currently free from community crises and remains peaceful, with its voting strength intact and ready to be mobilized.
“The leaders yesterday at the event concluded that enough is enough,” a participant said.
