
Despite the rampaging flood along Riverine area of Kogi local government of Kogi state, Koton karfe was agog on Thursday as people across Nigeria converged on the ancient town of Koton to celebrate His Royal Majesty, the Ohimege Igu of Igu Kingdom, Alhaji Abudulrasaq Gambo Isah-koto who clocked 10 years on the throne.

The ceremony which took place in Koton-Karfe, headquarters of Kogi local government on Thursday witnessed a large turnout.

The carnival -like occasion began with traditional and cultural displays by inhabitants of the area to showcase their rich cultural heritage.

In his remarks, Ohimegye-Igu, who thanked the people of his Kingdom and Kogi state for their unflinching support over the years, however pointed that without there support it wouldn’t have been possible to achieve the desired successes.
The celebrant who was overwhelmed with the large turnout of his subjects across the nook and cranny of Igu Kingdom, said “Today, I must sincerely thank God for his faithfulness, love, care, mercy, strength, support, inspiration and guidance towards us in the past years. We are assured that he will continue to lead us to higher levels of success and significance.”
Delivering a keynote address, Alhaji Hassan Shu’aibu Ohimozi, who is the chairman of the occasion commended the monarch for his honesty, simplicity and the ability to carry everybody along.
Ohimozi, who enumerated the successes recorded by the monarch within the period under review said within the 10 years on throne, the Ohimegye-Igu had achieved numerous achievements, including the promotion of peace and security in the Kingdom.
