NYCN Lokoja Chapter Appeals to ATWAP To Reconsider Its decision on hike in price of Pure Water

… Wants A Reversal To Old Price,
The Acting Coordinator, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lokoja Local Government Chapter,
Comrade Abdullahi A Madami, has made an appeal to the Association of Pure Water Producers (ATWAP) to reconsider their decision to hike the price of Pure Water in Lokoja LGA and the State in general.
The Acting Coordinator in a statement issued to Newsmen in Lokoja today, said the decision would further add untold hardship on the citizens.
The NYCN described water as life and not a commodity to be toyed with, said it has made its findings and discover that the increase was outrageous and would further add more pain and hardship on the people.
The attempt to increase the price of Pure Water the NYCN Coordinator observed is already making life unbearable for the people of Kogi State, called on the Government to step into the matter and for the manufacturers to have a rethink as it is not doing any good for the citizenry.
The NYCN said it has made it findings and discover that the prices of sachet water in states such as Benue, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti and even Niger has remained same as was being sold in Lokoja before now, lamented that the decision to hike the price is not in the best interest of the masses who are already pauparized by the downturn in the economy.
The NYCN therefore appealed to the Association of Table Water Producers (ATWAP) and other independent producers to reconsider their decision and revert to the normal price of N10 per sachet.
The NYCN equally called on the state government water board to look into the cost of paying heavily for water so as not frustrate the effort of citizen’s access to affordable portable drinking water, described water as life and should not be made a compromise.
