NGO Empowers Kogi Youths On Entrepreneurial Skills, Offers Grants to Beneficiaries

A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Folorunsho Olafemi Foundation (FOF) in collaboration with some partners, have empowered no fewer than 12 youths in Yagba Federal Constituency in the Western Senatorial districts of Kogi State.

Engr. Folorunsho Olafemi, the Founder of FOF, disclosed this at the end of a two-day training and empowerment programme, tagged: ”Yagba Opportunities Unlimited (YOUPreneur) Challenge”, held in Mopa, Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State.

In his remarks, Olafemi noted that the programme would provide the participants and beneficiaries the opportunities to interface with different experts and professionals in their respective chosen businesses for mentorship.

The selected beneficiaries among the participants at the grand finale of the event were give opportunity to defend on how they would utilize the grants when given them.

It would be recalled that open advertisement was made, requesting entry for the YOUPreneur Essay Competition from the Youths Of Yagba Federal Constituency.

After several entries, about 12 Youths made it to Grand Finale of the empowerment opportunity.

The proposals presented ranges from livestock farming, tailoring/fashion designing, aluminum construction, graphic design among others.

The partners who are co-sponsors unanimously expressed their readiness to partner with the businesses, mentor the youths and make sure their businesses grow.

The partners also assured that the empowerment programme would be annual, and expanded subsequently, adding that Engr. Olafemi’s was worthy of their continous support.

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the founder of the foundation, Engr. Folorunsho Olafemi and his friends for the opportunity given to them to learn new skills.

The co-sponsors: Mr. Keji Giwa, Mr. Oluseyi Daniels, and Mr. Tayo Fida who are also friends of Olafemi, expressed their satisfactions with the selection processes and the presentation of the beneficiaries at the final stage.

The 12 beneficiaries were awarded with business grant prizes ranging from ₦100,000.00 to ₦300,000.00 depending on the nature of their various businesses.
