New Look MOEST, Gov. Bello’s commitment to turn around Education Sector – Hon. Wemi Jones


 

The Kogi State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is wearing a new look courtesy of Gov. Yahaya Bello.

For a first time visitor to Kogi State, your attention when you pass through the street where the Ministry of Education is located, couple with the fact that the Ministry is close to the ongoing construction work at the President Mohammadu Buhari Civic Centre, makes the new look Ministry of Education catch your fancy.

Speaking with the Nigerianpost on the reason behind the outstanding transformation, Hon. Wemi Jones, disclosed that the commitment of Gov. Bello to turn around the Education Sector has remained one that has been outstanding since he assumed Office.

While noting that on the field, the State Government has done superlatively well in the Education Sector in terms of improving Educational infrastructure, prompted Gov. Bello to direct for a facelift of the Ministry where he explained usually gives rise to policies and its formulation that relates to Education.

According to the Commissioner, Gov. Bello noted that the facelift would not only offer comfort to the policy formulators, but having reposition Education in the State to stand out and to attract policy makers and others who may have reason to explore the achievements in the Education Sector from within and outside the, there was the need to give the Ministry a befitting outlook.

 

Hon. Jones disclosed that the unprecedented commitment of Gov. Bello to the Education Sector can be underscored when in 2021 the Sector took a large chunk, 21% of the State’s budgetary provision.

 

He added that to prove the Governor’s further commitment to the Education Sector, the Sector would gulp 30% of the State’s budgetary provision in 2022.

While pointing out that the Governor’s commitment to improving the Education Sector can be witnessed in the level of Educational infrastructure development across the State, pointed out that the establishment of the Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara buttresses one of such seriousness of Gov Bello to Education.

The Commissioner noted that across the State, Government is also building GYB Science Model Secondary Schools, amongst several other projects to reposition the sector, described the facelift as a work in progress as more effort to make the Ministry a cynosure of all eyes is still in the pipeline.

The Commissioner described Gov. Bello’s love for education since the creation of the State as one that has helped in laying a sustainable foundation that the State would leverage and benefit from in years to come.

The Commissioner restated the commitment of the Ministry to working assiduously in ensuring that the vision of Gov. Bello is achieved in the Education Sector, assured of the unflinching support and commitment of the Ministry to the realization of the vision and dreams of Gov. Bello, thanked the Gov Bello for his love for the coming generation who would reap the dividends of the Educational Transformation.
