NDC Receives Defecting Lawmakers, As Prince Yahaya Audu, El- Shettima from Kogi Bolsters Ranks Ahead of 2027
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, received a delegation of House of Representatives members who recently defected to the party, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen its ranks ahead of future political engagements.
The lawmakers paid a courtesy visit to the NDC leadership to reaffirm their commitment to the party. Prominent political figures, including former Kano State Governor Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Peter Obi, joined the proceedings at different times.
In his remarks, NDC leader Senator Seriake Dickson commended the lawmakers for aligning with their leader and joining the party. Describing their move as a step in the right direction, he said the NDC remains focused on building a united and democratic Nigeria.
Senator Dickson urged the new members to continue defending the democratic rights of Nigerians and to resist any attempts to impose a one-party state. He also charged them to maintain close collaboration with their constituents and to work consistently in the interest of the people.
In a related development, the party formally received Senator Col. Amos Bulus (Rtd), a former member of the House of Representatives from Gombe State, and his team following their defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Similarly, Prince Yahaya Audu led a delegation from Kogi State into the party fold, further expanding the NDC’s presence in the North Central region.
Also from Kogi is Hon. El Shettima Agbogun, the House of Representative Aspirant for Lokoja Kogi federal Constituency who crossed from the ADC.
