* Promises better welfare for players.
The newly appointed Vice Chairman and General Manager Operations, kogi United Football Club and Confluence Queens, Barrister Suleiman Abdulmalik Babanawa has promised to restructure and reinvigorate the two teams for efficiency in order to meet the yearnings of football lovers in the state.
Barrister Babanawa who spoke from the sideline on Sunday in Lokoja, said his vision for the team is to get her promoted to the premier league and ensure adequate incentives for the players and officials.
He noted that Kogi United whose performance has not been inspiring has started to show sparkle within few days of the take off of the new Management team which he added has produced three wins , two aways and one at home.
He added that with the cooperation of the Chief Executive Officer of the clubs, Abdulmalik Isah and the enthusiasm of the players, the team
will soon become the toast of the teaming lovers of the round leather sport.
According to him , when they took over, kogi United was fourth from the bottom of the Nigerian National football league NNFL , but within few weeks ,the fortune was reversed, occupying fourth from the first position, .
The Lawyer turned football administrator opined that in a short while the team will cover the lost gap , promising to get the team promoted to the premier league at the end of the season .
He assured the players of the commitment of Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello to their welfare adding that their welfare is the priority of the present Management.
” Normally, the issue of welfare has been a problem not only here, it is the same across the country, but we had meeting with government and with the new philosophy of Management and staff, and as we begin to restructure, it is part of where we are going and as we look at it properly, we are confident that the welfare of players will be made a priority.
“Our message to kogites is that we need few more weeks , maybe, four or five weeks ,and you will see better results, better performances.” He promised.
He admitted that the last match against Kwara United was a very tough one , but commended the players for their dedication and playing to rules that made them to trounce the visitors , scoring two quick goals .
While calling on the stakeholders to join hands with the new Management to change the fortunes of the teams, commended the Governor for the approval to renovate the confluence stadium which he said will boost the morale and performance of players.
