KOGI STATE MINISTRY OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION COLLABORATES WITH FRSC TO CURB ISSUE OF ROAD CRASHES

 

The ministry of information and communication led by the Honourable commissioner Hon Kingsley Fanwo meets with Federal road safety corps, Kogi state sector command on Wednesday 28th May, 2025 to collaborate together in order to enhance aggressive enlightenment to road users.

The ministry was received by the FRSC Kogi sector commander Kumar Tsukwam and his team at the state’s head office in lokoja Kogi state.

During his speech, the Honourable commissioner appreciate commander Kumar Tsukwam for receiving them. Extending His Excellency’s commendation to the corps he stated that he and his team were given a marching order to seek maximum collaboration with the sector command of FRSC so as to curb the menace of road crashes claiming the lives and properties of Kogites.

“I’m here on the directive of the Chief servant of the state, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to collaborate with the federal road safety corps to use all conventional platforms of the state to carry out aggressive enlightenment on road users”

Going further Hon Kingsley Fanwo while addressing the press made it known that the members of FRSC would be given 1hour each for two days of every week to educate the public on the dangers associated with reckless use of the road. Also the collaboration will birth an app through the use of ICT where passengers can lodge complain if any driver is recklessly driving.

The sector commander Kumar Tsukwam reiterated the governor’s concern for the good people of Kogi state, applauding the diligent commissioner for his hard work and wealth of knowledge. Going further he told the press that all modalities would be put in place to enlighten road users. All the transportation union would be informed and these modalities and passengers should download the FRSC mobile app on their smartphones where they can easily reachout to the command in time of crashes, pot holes and of course dissatisfaction of drivers.

Drawing the attention of everybody to the syndrome of transporting mixed goods common among Nigerians he made it known that the service corps would begin thorough action against vehicles transporting mixed goods and this might result into dislodging goods or passengers from affected vehicles.

The collaboration between the ministry of information and communication and the federal road safety corps would help mitigate the issues of crashes and reckless use of the road. Proper information and modus operandi of FRSC shall be disseminated through all the platforms of the ministry including social media.

The commissioner enjoins all Kogite to comply with the modalities so as to protect lives and properties.
