
Kogi State Branch, Council of Ulama’u appeals to citizens to shun planned protest slated to begin from August 1st

The Kogi State Branch, Council of Ulama’u of Nigeria, has made an appeal to all citizens to shun the planned protest slated to begin from August 1st, pointing out that protest is never a credible means of finding a solution to any form of challenge.
In a statement issued in Lokoja, acknowledged the obvious present economic situation, particularly as it affects the cost of living, making it unbearable for the common man that form the majority of the populace to feed.
The Council however blamed the current unfortunate situation Nigerians finds itself as caused by both the leaders and the led by unfaithfulness to Almighty ALLAH.
The Council however called for prompt dialogue between the government and the planned protesters with the hope of finding amicable solutions to all the problems affecting the nation.
“In reality, protest breeds rancour, hatred, violence, bloodshed and destructions as well as disrupts peaceful co-existence among the people.
“Council however, call on the Federal Government in collaboration with both State and Local governments to look seriously into the demands, which is agitating the minds of those calling for a nationwide protest with genuine hope of finding a lasting solution to both remote and immediate causes of the issues raised by the protesters.
“Government at all levels should as a matter of urgency acknowledge and address the burning issues immediately to douse the tension hanging on the nation and return to peace which is the priceless commodity for all the citizens.
“Council urges all Islamic Scholars, Imams, leaders and all Islamic Organisations in the State to offer fervent prayers for ALLAH’S IMMIDIATE INTERVENTION”.
The Council reminded all citizens to avoid and shun the protest, bearing in mind that it is not the best option to ameliorate the present economic situation.
“We should all collectively choose the option of dialogue and understanding, which yields the best results for our progress, development and peaceful co-existence.
“Council sincerely pray to Almighty ALLAH to Guide and Protect our leaders as well as Grant the followers, the patience, understanding and cooperation in finding amicable solutions to all our problems”.
