The Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, has assured residents to go about their lawful businesses without fear, declaring that the state is winning the fight against insecurity.
Commander Omodara disclosed this on Monday during the Security Stakeholders’ Consultative Engagement held at the Kogi State Police Command in Lokoja. He said the few bandits and criminal elements terrorizing parts of the state are now begging to surrender as pressure from security forces intensifies.
“With the onslaught declared by His Excellency, Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo, on criminal elements in the state, and with arrangements to deploy more helicopters to bombard Kogi forests in the next few days, they will all be neutralized,” he stated.
The Security Adviser assured that no stone is being left unturned to ensure residents live with their eyes closed and pursue their businesses unhindered. He described Kogi as “unsafe for criminal elements,” noting that the state government is deploying resources to secure every part of the state.
He also commended officers and men of the Nigerian Police and other security agencies on the frontline, saying efforts to cater for their welfare while discharging their duties will remain a priority.
The consultative meeting, held on 22nd June 2026, was attended by the Coordinating Deputy Inspector-General of Police, North-Central Geo-Political Zone, DIG Isyaku Mohammed, FCNA, PhD; traditional rulers; Chairman and members of PCRC; representatives of NANS, NBA, youth groups, CSOs/NGOs; senior police officers; and members of the press.
In his welcome address, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, welcomed DIG Mohammed and stakeholders, saying the engagement was convened to evaluate the state’s security architecture, strengthen operational strategies, and deepen collaboration. He assured that officers and men of the command are battle ready and remain committed to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM’s vision of a professionally competent, intelligence-led, service-driven, and people-friendly Nigeria Police Force.
Stakeholders at the meeting pledged continued support for community-oriented policing and sustained peace across Kogi State.
