Barrister Kabiru Usman has in a Saturday address to the Kogi State PDP delegates, assured them that it is possible to defeat APC in November but that it can only be done if the party members commit to working as one.
He made this call in his message titled “Fear not, we can defeat the APC if we work together as one”. The message which was directed towards the delegates of the PDP in the State was full of words of admonition for the party to get it right as it gets set to elect flag-bearer for the November Governorship election.
“The challenges of our dear Kogi State are challenges that have for many years robbed us of sleep since 2016 (being the year APC took charge of our dear State), as citizens of the State. Since APC took over our dear State, fellow Kogites have been faced with challenges that are increasingly seeming unsurmountable on virtually every side. Fellow Kogites are losing hope of ever experiencing good governance ever again in every passing day of APC still in charge in the State. Fellow Kogites are very worried, they are asking if it will ever get better in the State again. They yearn for the PDP days when they prospered as citizens. They yearn for the days when you don’t have to be a Government appointee to be a beneficiary of the Government in the State.
“Many of us, as benefactors, have even resorted to no longer visiting our ancestral homes any more because the challenges ahome are enormous. Many of us, as benefactors, no longer pick calls of our loved ones because we believe they want to get one form of financial assistance or another from us. We all really love our loved ones but sadly we are not able to care for them as much as we should because the APC in the State have made life extremely difficult in such a way that has led to increasing economic pressure that daily hits hard on our mode of inter-personal relationships with one another as family relatives and/or by extension as fellow Kogites, understandably.
“Now is the perfect time to get it right as a State, else the economic pressure already occasioned by APC’s bad policies on us as citizens will only worsen within the next 4 years and God forbid that we finally get to a point where we now have to resort to disowning our own family members just to escape ‘economic pressures from home’ if we let APC to continue to rule us as citizens.
“I therefore put it to each and every one of us that we can actually overcome all these challenges by latest January next year (2024) but the condition is the level of unity of purpose we exhibit from now till the governorship election coming up later in November this year.
“It starts with us as a party, the PDP, putting our best available foot forward in a determined bid to send the APC packing from the firmament of the leadership of our dear State. We have a chance to change the leadership of our State and bring on board, good governance to each and every citizen of our dear State, I appeal to us in the strongest possible terms, let us not gamble the chance for any reason. We must stay focused till the election is won for our dear party, the PDP,” Barrister Kabiru Usman said in the message.
“I am not in the race for personal glory or for fame, rather, considering the seriousness of the task at hand, the task of rescuing our dear State from APC and rescuing our dear State from bad governance, I am in the race to win for our party and to win for every single Kogite facing one form of challenge or another, challenges that ordinarily can be surmounted if the right Government is in place in the State.
“We have what it takes to defeat the APC. With unity of purpose, we can do it in November.
“Don’t forget to vote for me to be the flag-bearer of our great party, the PDP, when you cast your vote as a delegate on April 16.
“We shall together, rescue our dear Kogi State from the APC and we shall together, re-introduce good governance to all fellow Kogites. They already trust us, they yearn for our leadership of the State, they are willing to vote for us across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State, they want the PDP days to be back in the State.
“As one united party, with me, with you, we can rescue our dear Kogi State. I am Barrister Kabiru Usman, I am one of you, your fellow party member and fellow determined mind in the urgent need to rescue Kogi State from APC, come November, I am in the race to win for our dear party, the PDP, and to win for every Kogite desirous of good governance of our dear Kogi State,” the statement further read.
