KOCCIMA Governing Council Hold
1st Meeting, Vows To Deepen Public-Private Partnership For Kogi’s Economic Growth
The Kogi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, KOCCIMA, on Thursday, 6th August 2026, held its 1st Governing Council Meeting at the KOCCIMA Secretariat in Lokoja, with a resolve to strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors to drive economic development in the state.
The meeting brought together representatives from key Ministries, Departments and Agencies to chart a new course for business growth, investment promotion, and MSME development in Kogi State.
Delivering the President’s address, the Deputy President 1 of the Chamber, Comr. Rajaun Suleiman, who represented Dr. Akerejola Demiloye, welcomed members of the Council on behalf of the President, Executive Council, and Management of KOCCIMA. He appreciated them for accepting to serve, noting that their appointment underscores the importance of collaboration in moving the state’s economy forward.
“Your appointment reflects the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in driving economic growth in Kogi State. With representatives from key ministries, departments, and agencies, this Council is uniquely positioned to create meaningful opportunities for our business community,” Comr. Suleiman stated.
He outlined four priority areas where the Council’s support will be critical,
Capacity building for MSMEs and entrepreneurs. Increased participation in trade fairs, exhibitions, and investment promotion activities.
Policy advocacy to improve the ease of doing business and
Technical support, standards compliance, innovation, and market access, for businesses in Kogi State.
Comr. Suleiman emphasized that KOCCIMA cannot deliver on its mandate alone, and called on Council members to deploy their expertise, institutional support, and commitment to strengthen the Chamber.
“Your expertise, institutional support, and commitment will strengthen the Chamber and contribute significantly to the economic development of our State,” he said.
He charged members to work together to build stronger partnerships that will create jobs, attract investments, and position Kogi State as a preferred destination for business and industry.
The inauguration of the present Governing Council marks a major step in KOCCIMA’s efforts to reposition the Chamber as the leading voice of the organized private sector in Kogi State.
Comr. Suleiman concluded by wishing the Council a productive and successful tenure.
In their separate remarks, Council Members promised to work collectively with the Chamber in the needed areas towards making the state a business and industrial destination.
