By joshua Karimi Launches Meseko’s Memoir, Donates ₦10m at 60th Birthday Celebration in Abuja
Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West, launched Durosinmi Meseko: An Odyssey through the Media, Activism and Leadership and donated ₦10 million to mark the 60th birthday of Hon. Duro Meseko in Abuja.
The event, which drew political leaders, media practitioners, traditional rulers, and well-wishers from across the country, celebrated the life and public service of the former APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary.
Sen. Karimi, who was Special Guest of Honour, described Hon. Meseko as “a brother and friend,” and said the memoir offers timely lessons on politics, party administration, and nation-building.
“The book is a valuable addition to Nigeria’s political and leadership literature. It will inspire younger politicians and activists who want to serve with conviction,” Karimi said.
He commended Hon. Meseko for his consistency in the APC and his contributions to national discourse, noting that documenting such experiences helps preserve institutional memory for future generations.
Durosinmi Meseko: An Odyssey through the Media, Activism and Leadership chronicles the celebrant’s journey from journalism and activism to party leadership. It also captures his tenure as APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary and his perspectives on governance, party building, and national development.
Hon. Meseko, who currently chairs the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute, NBRRI, thanked Sen. Karimi and other donors for their generosity. He pledged to keep contributing to public policy conversations and to mentor upcoming leaders.
“I am grateful for this outpouring of love. This book is my way of giving back – sharing lessons, mistakes, and victories so others can build on them,” he said.
The birthday and book launch attracted a broad spectrum of dignitaries. They included: Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau; Deputy Governor of Ondo State, representing Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Hon. Mohammed Halims, representing the Speaker of the House of Representatives; Mrs. Esther Leke Abejide, Representative of the Yobe State Governor; CG Olumode Adeyemi; HRM Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, Elulu of Mopa; HRM Oba Elijah Meseko, Obaro of Odo-Ape; Hon. Dino Melaye; H.E. Arch. Yomi Awoniyi; Hon. T.J. Yusuf; and other political, traditional, and professional leaders.
The celebration ended with goodwill messages, tributes, and prayers for the celebrant’s continued service to Nigeria.
