Hon. Sunday Karimi, has described women as antidote for sustainable development, said there place in the growth and development of any country can never be over emphasized.
The two time House of Representatives Member who represented Yagba Federal Constituency between 2011 and 2018, made the disclosure in a statement to mark and felicitates with women on this year’s celebration of the International Women’s Day.
The former lawmaker disclosed that while in the Nigerian National Assembly, he substantiated his commitment to gender equality by making and supporting laws that empowers women.
Speaking “In line with this year’s theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, Hon. Karimi described the theme as apt, said it will mark a turnaround for Nigerian woman in politics, and a historic win in the struggle for women inclusion in decision making spaces, as the 2023 general elections draw closer.
While pointing out that he will always support issues of women inclusion in decision making, described women as playing pivotal roles in governance, said he will play deliberate roles in efforts that will change women participation in politics and governance anytime, anyday.
While he said he supports all forms of elimination, Discrimination Against Women, praised Gov. Yahaya Bello’s commitment to 35% Affirmative Action on women inclusion across all arms of governance.
While he maintained that no nation can progress with over 50% of its population excluded from contributing to its development, said failure to recognize this is simply planning to fail from the beginning, congratulated women in Nigeria, Kogi State, with women of Kogi West Senatorial District on the occasion of the 2022 International women day celebration.
The former lawmaker salutes Nigerian women for the continued struggle, urged them never to be intimidated, said women grow stronger in the fight for a just society.
