IGALA ELITES URGED TO RECONSIDER THEIR POLITICAL STRATEGY
The recent APC National convention has sparked debate among Igala elites, with some criticizing aspirants who’ve joined the party, saying they’re “bending the knee” to Okene.
But one Igala voice, Promise Ojonugwa Emmanuel, is pushing back, arguing that the real problem lies with the Igala elites’ own self-sabotaging strategies.
Emmanuel blames the Igala elites for removing Prince Abubakar Audu from power in 2003, allowing PDP to take over Kogi State.
He says they’ve been playing “illiterate politics,” prioritizing personal ambitions over the Igala nation’s interests.
The writer notes that other ethnic groups in Kogi State, like Ebiras and Okuns, have strategic alliances and are reaping benefits. APC is controlled by Ebiras, PDP by Ebiras, and ADC by Okuns. Igalas, meanwhile, are scattered.
Emmanuel urges Igala elites to take responsibility, drop pride, and join the political game. “Bend the knee” if need be, he says, to secure power and representation for Igalas.
