With the commencement of electioneering for the 2023 general elections, Kogi West has been in focus majorly because of the acceptance by the majority of West Kogites that for equity and fairness, Yagba Federal Constituency ought to be given the opportunity to have one of its own to occupy the office come 2023.
While this is laudable, the need for the Federal Constituency to pick and support it’s best cannot be overemphasized. Of all the aspirants especially in the All Progressives Congress, Hon. (Engr.) Sunday Steve Karimi stands out clearly based on his antecedents as a two term Member representing the same Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2011-2019.
Legislative duties especially in the Senate is not for political novices and upstarts if the desire of the people is for responsible, responsive, effective and efficient representation.
In the year 2011-2019 has been widely adjudged and described as the ‘Golden Years’ of outstanding and distinct representation in the lower House of the National Assembly thanks to stewardship of Hon.
Sunday Steve Karimi’s superlative performance.
In terms of making laws for good governance, Hon. (Engr.) Sunday Karimi sponsored over 26 bills and moved a plethora of motions during his time in the House of Representatives which is the primary responsibility of a law maker. He is one of the most vibrant in the House.
On education, he constructed:
a. 5 numbers of 3-classroom blocks in Odo-Ere, Mopa, Ife-Olukotun, Isanlu and Odo-Eri respectively,
b. 2 numbers of 3-classroom blocks fully furnished at Titcombe College, Egbe,
c. Facilitated ICT School of Knowledge at Egbe
d. Bursary for 60 students across the Federal Constituency per annum.
On skills acquisition:
Nomination and sponsorship of a considerable numbers of the constituents for Industrial Training Fund (ITF), National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and the N-Power programs respectively.
On provision of potable water;
Distribution of not less than 15 numbers of Solar-powered Boreholes with 10,000 litre UPVC tanks across the various wards of the Federal Constituency.
Distribution of hand pump boreholes and rehabilitation of several others so that the people can enjoy dividends of democracy which is their right.
On direct impact;
Payment of medical bills, school fees, Rent/Accommodation and other sundry expenses for numerous indigents was/is also one of his major commitments that he has being doing exceptionally.
Going forward, distribution of a trailer load of rice continuously for 8 years when he was in the house and it never stopped even after he left the national assembly.
The few mentioned here are just a snippet of the positive impact that Hon. (Engr.)Sunday Steve Karimi made during his stay in the House of Representatives for Yagba Federal Constituency and it has remained his legacy up till date.
Lawmaking in the Senate is about experience and competence in which Hon. (Engr.) Sunday Steve Karimi is vast.
Yagba Federal Constituency must put forward and support its best and it is no other person than Hon. (Engr.) Sunday Steve Karimi who has been tested and has proven that he can be trusted to do more if given the opportunity.
Kogi West Senatorial District is dire need of purposeful representation in the Senate which Hon. (Engr.) Sunday Steve Karimi is willing and more than able to provide.
Unlike others whose only occupation is politics, Hon (Engr.) Sunday Steve Karimi is a successful Water Engineer whose interest is solely in leveraging on the enhanced opportunities the Senate offers for turning around the fortunes of the people for good.
It can be stated without ambiguity that of the individuals aspiring to represent the good people of Kogi West in the Senate come 2023, Hon. (Engr.) Sunday Steve Karimi is the viable and reasonable choice.
