The General Manager of Kogi Community and Social Development Agency (KCSDA), Mallam Dauda Momoh has praised the initiatives of the vulnerable groups in the state to embark on self-help projects that would benefit members and their immediate environment despite their challenges.
The General Manager gave the commendation while commissioning new Primary School and Health Clinic built by the Badokko Widows&Widowers Association in Okene Local Government Area on Thursday.
The General Manager who also commissioned a Motorised Borehole and Health Clinic put in place by the Idare-Okene Widows and Orphans Association, said that the projects were executed with the support of his agency under its group development plan to encourage the laudable goal of the less privileged to contribute their quota to the well-being of members and other citizens
Mall. Dauda Momoh described the projects as meaningful ventures that would impact positively on the lives of members and the people of their communities and urged other organized bodies and individuals across the state to emulate.
The General Manager further applauded Kogi State Government for prompt payment of its counterpart funds which according to him facilitated assistance from the World Bank to the agency to enable it support communities, associations and individuals willing to carry out developmental projects.
He appreciated the contractors that handled the projects for quality execution according to the contract specifications
Apart from the projects executed by the less privileged groups in the zone, the General Manager also commissioned one Health Clinic built by the Idoji-Eba Community in Okene local government area.
Speaking at the event, the executive chairman of Okene local government area, Abdulrazaq Yusuf reiterated his commitment to continue to care for both the able bodied and the vulnerable groups in the local government.
“I feel delighted for the efforts of these two vulnerable associations despite their challenges to meet up in the drive to impact on the lives of their members and immediate communities. I will not relent in ensuring that all citizens even in the face of great challenges are given equal opportunities in sharing government resources” the chairman assured.
In their separate remarks, chairman and chairperson of the two vulnerable groups, Mr. Michael Sani and Mrs Audu Onyijimoh expressed their profound gratitude to the Kogi Community and Social Development Agency for its support towards the completion of the projects.
They also appreciated donations from Okene local government, spirited individuals and organizations to their groups which according to them facilitated speedy execution of all their planned developmental projects.
They also enjoined Kogi state government to sustain the prompt payment of its counterpart funds in order to attract more developments to rural communities across the state.
