The Executive Director, Challenged Parenthood Initiative, (CPI) Ms Eunice Abimbola Agbogun has bagged an award from the Nigeria Post newspaper for promoting the fight against Gender Based Violence in Kogi State.
She received the award at the 2024
the Nigerian Post Annual Public Lecture with the Theme “Sustaining Kogi’s Unbroken Unity – Prospects & Possibilities, This House Must Not Fail”, held in Lokoja.
According to the Publisher of the Nigeria Post newspaper Mike Abu
“the award is in view of your contributions and positive impacts to the State when juxtaposed with your bill, that culminated in the passage of the Violence against persons prohibition law”.

PROFESSIONAL PROFILE OF MS EUNiCE ABIMBOLA AGBOGUN
She is the Executive Director of Challenged Parenthood Initiative (CPI) one of the Leading NGOs in Kogi State, Nigeria.A proud Kogite who hails from Ogori – Magongo LGA in the Central senatorial district.Her early Life and school started from Maiduguri, Borno State and Zaria, Kaduna State in the northern part of Nigeria.
And immediately after her NYSC in 2001 – 2002 she traveled abroad, lived and worked on the island of St. Maarten, Dutch West Indies, Caribbean Island where she had an outlet and promoting African culture and fashion.
She’s a graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she obtained her first degree in Geography and later had her post graduate in Community Health in Sociology from the then Kogi State University, Ayingba.
She’s had several professional trainings on Governance, Gender Justice and Climate Change and in other Development and Social Work.
She’s a focused individual with over 15 years experience as a good governance propagator, Human Right Activist, social and development resource analyst, gender programming enthusiast, NGO management expert, women empowerment adviser, training and capacity building specialist, SDG monitoring adviser, project Manager, public presentation expert, economic empowerment resource person and change manager.She has lead several advocacies in kogi state and in Nigeria.
She is the convener of the Kogi State Get Out the Vote and Stop Violence Against Women in Politics Campaign, also the Initiator, Convener and Sponsor of the Kogi State Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law which was passed by the Kogi State House of Assembly and Assented into law by the past immediate Governor.She’s a member of the advocacy Team of the Kogi State Disability Right Law.
She’s also a strong advocate for the fight against all forms of Gender Based Violence Against the Boys and Girls Child and women.
The Kogi State Government has engaged her in several committees as a representative of the civil society organizations such as the judicial Commission of Inquiry into the civil Disturbance in some communities in kogi state, the Kogi Youth Development Commission, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) just to mention a few.
Her professional experiences in capacity development, gender mainstreaming and analysis, economic empowerment, Women and Youth intervention, health advocacy, community development and humanitarian intervention and high level of performance in relationship building, decision-making and communication , project planning, implementation and execution made her to be sort after as coordinator of various Networks, Coalitions and movement within the civic space as well as Head of Various Units and Departments within the faith based organization at various times.
Currently she’s the coordinator of the following Networks in Kogi State. North Central Representative of the Nigerian Civil Society Situation Room, The Kogi Women Constituency Lead, a movement of diverse women groups cut across kogi state, Gender and Constitution Reform Network (GECORN), Coalition of Societies for the Rights of Older Persons in Nigeria (COSROPIN), The Nigeria Network on Peace and Security for Women in the ECOWAS Region (NOPSWECO) just to mention a few.
She has attended as well as organized several professional activities, workshops, seminars and capacity training such as the following just to mention a few. Strengthening state capacities and women’s participation in COVID Response and broader peace building initiative Organized by UN Women, 2021, Capacity Building for women’s movement on strengthening coordination mechanism to advocate for ending sexual & gender based violence. Organized by WARDC/AWOF, 2023.
She also attended a one Day Young Women Mentoring / Intergenerational Women’s Dialogue Towards Advancing women, peace & security Agenda in Kogi state. (Celebrating women’s Achievement and Building Bridges). Organized by CPI in collaboration with Kogi State Ministry of Women Affairs, Mercy corps and Community Initiative for promoting Peace. 28th March, 2024, Kogi Older Persons Hangout, Advocating for Improved Older Person’s Quality of life and dignity, Organized by CPI in collaboration with COSROPIN. 3rd March, 2024.
She has also attended the Kogi State Pre-summit on the State of the Nigerian Girls (SONG) in Lokoja, organized by CPI in collaboration with Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Development & Action Aid Nigeria. 29th September, 2022, Pay Attention to Him (PATH) A 3 Day Awareness & Enlightenment campaign in Secondary Schools Lokoja, Kogi State on the sexual Abuse of Boys, organized by CPI, PATH & Millennium Fellowship. 18th – 21st October 2022.
The CPI Executive Director further attended Advocacy & Policy Influencing on Gender Justice & Accountability for Ending Violence Against Women & Girls in Nigeria. Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. 27th October, 2022, Launch of a Research Report & Advocacy Strategy for Higher Institutions on Ending Sexual & Gender – Based Violence (SGBV), transcorp Hilton, Abuja. 26th October, 2022, training of Trainers on the use of GBV Dash Board for GBV reporting for Ministry of Women Affairs & Civil Society organization, organized by Fed. Min. of Women Affairs, held at the Children Amusement Park, Lokoja, Kogi State. 16th & 17th September, 2022.
