It’s no longer news or strange that the name Wemi Jones is now a household name across the length and breath of Kogi state and beyond due to his astute leadership qualities in repositioning the Education Sector as directed by Gov. Yahaya Bello.
I came across him a few Weeks ago while l was on my usual hustling with my tricycle ride (Keke).
l pretended as if l don’t know him but he caught me surprisely when he called me by my name (Omojarabi).
I however replied him, Your distinguished Sir, and a conversation set in.
Hon. are you in lokoja?
Me. Yes Sir, Lokoja is where l base.
Hon. Is this what you are doing for a leaving (Keke)
Me. For now Sir. Do you know the Chairman, Security Trust Fund to his Excellency, Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, I asked.
Hon. Yes, he is one of our colleague, a hardworking guy as you can see. He’s the
STF Chairman.
Me: He must be a hardworking guy, pls do the needful for me I want to see him.
Hon. see me in office tomorrow morning by 10:00am
Me. OK Sir.
Unfortunately, i couldn’t go due to some reason.
Surprisingly, this gentle man surprised me again the following morning. His call was the first I received at about 6:00am requesting me to see him after he apolyogize for not been able to see me the last time. How he got my number is still a matter of surprise to me. My thought as to why I thought he wanted to see me was a discussion that would be geared towards 2023.
But my meeting with you gave me a lot of perception about you. You showed me solidarity, love and support despite our political view, all our discussion was centered on self goals and progress.
Little wonder, Education under your leadership is witnessing a radical development and accelerated change with you devoid of sentiment.
I have no doubt in my mind and an unshakable believe that when given a higher responsibility you have cleared the doubt of performance, you can and you will do better.
I’ve come to the conclusion that you’re one of the most simple political appointee I have ever met.
