Executive Director CWGCDF Halima Sadiq receives Nigeria Post Newspaper award for promoting Girl Child in Kogi

 

The Executive Director, Director, Chachavivi Women and Girl Child Development Foundation Ms. Halima Oiza Sadiq has been received an award from the Nigeria Post newspaper for promoting the well-being of the Girl Child development in Kogi State and Nigeria in general.

Ms Sadiq received the award at the 2024 Nigerian Post Annual Public Lecture with the Theme “Sustaining Kogi’s Unbroken Unity – Prospects & Possibilities, This House Must Not Fall”, held in Lokoja.

According to the Publisher of the Nigeria Post newspaper Mike Abu, “the award is in view of your contributions and positive impacts to the State when juxtaposed with your efforts in Promoting Girl Child Development and Women Empowerment in Kogi State”.

Halima Oiza Sadiq Profile:

A seasoned development expert with the passion and addressing the gap for the vulnerable especially women and girls. She is currently undertaken a Ph.D in peace and conflict studies at the federal university Lokoja. She holds a masters in Peace and conflict studies from federal university Lokoja and a bachelors degree in Biochemistry from Kogi state university Ayingba. She has undergone multiple trainings including project management, centre for counter terrorism, Gender based violence, peace building and community engagement and government relations. She is a leader per excellence and have been in the fore front for development issues in Kogi state, Nigeria advancing the cause of women. She has led international development organizations operations in Kogi state in the capacity of senior program officer, Manager and rose to executive director level for USIAD funded project by national democratic institute, Global community engagement fund Geneva by ActionAid, Solidaridad west Africa and other philanthropists. From the passion and interest in issues affecting women and children she founded Chachavivi women and girl child development foundation based in Kogi state. A non governmental organization focused on issues affecting women and girls, being the voice for the vulnerable with notable activities and achievements from personal funds and leveraging other support. She has international and national affiliates especially for organizations leading the gender base violence work and also promoting the peace and security of women and girls in Nigeria. She’s currently the state coordinator of International Society of Substance Use Professionals (ISSUP) Kogi State branch.

Notable achievement:
Support to women and girls on promoting equity and Justice and awakening women consciousness on accountable Governance through her programs. in the three senatorial district covering Adavi, Kogi and Lokoja Local Government areas of Kogi State through her foundation with personally mobilized funds.
Community systems set up in communities to prevent and respond to Gender based violence issues with youth leaders, women leaders, traditional and religious leaders as well as community vigilantee as gender based violence champions in their communities.
Her foundation awareness program have enlightened citizens over 100,000 kogites on Gender based violence on grace FM Kogi state solely sponsored by her foundation on taking deliberate action to mitigate Gender Based violence.
Direct and indirect service to women and young girls on mitigating Climate Change and building their resilience. This has been achieved through capacity building for them.
Her foundation has partnered with the National druglaw enforcement agency to sensitise, educate and rehabilitate drug addicted clients across the three senatorial district, reaching over 5000 thousand students between the age of 13 to 18 years.
A role model to women and young persons on being a change maker .
Collaborative action of her foundation has over time had government involved in her program to drive the change in Kogi state with rural communities on Agriculture, environment, women well being and resilience.
She has been a friend of the media and collaborated with them in all her program.
An educationist, a mother and a spiritual Icon spurring people to a better and productive life.
