Kogi Transport Commissioner Expresses Dismay At Road Crash Along Zone 8, Lokoja

 

.. Commends Semiams Fleets Management’s Proactiveness

The Kogi State Commissioner For Transportation, Hon. Atuluku Victor Levi has expressed dismay at the cause of accident which occurred along Zone 8 area of Lokoja yesterday leaving six persons dead and many injured.

Recalled that a DAF truck with registration no. RBC23XF belonging to
TEILE EXPRESS yesterday crashed leaving 6 persons dead and about 60 injured. The Men of the FRSC, Police and NSCDC took part in the rescue operations.

The Commissioner made the disclosure while monitoring the towing of the accidented vehicle by Semiams Fleets Management.

Semiams is the Towing consultant of the Kogi State Ministry of Transportation, was quick to clear the road and tow the crashed trailer to the Lokoja Mega Terminal Yard.

The Commissioner commended Semiams for been proactive in removing broken down trucks and trailers causing obstructions in the State capital and environs, added that appropriate bookings leading to fines is usually paid to the Kogi State Government through the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS).

The Commissioner stressed that the Ministry have disallowed such trailers that had accident from passing through the State through stiff enforcement, attributed the present accident to human error; over speeding and recklessness.

The Commissioner added that the level of casualties was worsened by cows and several people the trailer was carrying.

The Commissioner said the injured persons were rushed to the Specialist Hospital and Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja, added that the dead were deposited at the FTHL mortuary.
