Council Election: Kogi CNPP Berates SIEC For Not Releasing Election Results 120 Days After


 

 

 

The Kogi State Chapter of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties have bereted the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission for its inability to release the results of the last Local Government Election held in the State on 12/12/2020.

The CNPP in a statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary, Mohammed Kabir and Mouktah Atimah, and made available to Newsmen, lamented that 120 days after the election the Parties that participated in the election do not have results to show for it.

The CNPP pointed out that inspite the huge amount of of money claimed to have been spent on the Election, the SIEC is yet to make public the results.

The CNPP in the statement expressed worry that in an age of advanced technology, the Electoral body doesn’t have a website in which the result was published and for the public to follow her activities.

The Conference said it has received complain those engaged by the Electoral body to conduct the polls, lamented that the people are yet to have been paid their entitlements, described the situation as unacceptable inspite the fact that the amount was captured in the 2020 budget.

The Kogi CNPP called on the SIEC to do the needful by quickly making public the results of the council Election in the interest of Justice, fair play, Transparency and in line with democratic ethos.

The CNPP by the statement says the SIEC has up to 12th June, 2021 to make available a comprehensive results of the just concluded Local Government Election failure which the various Political Parties would have no choice but to picket the premises of Commission.
