… The many fabrications of Mrs Hannah Oziohu Abraham, outgoing provost, college of Nursing and Midwifery, Obangede
It is no more a strange saying that ” a journey of 100 miles must come to pass one day and that whatever has a beginning must surely have an end”.
It is in the light of this that everyone occupying a position always prepare ground suitable enough to point at as my achievement while holding sway as tenure expires.
It could be noted that When a person occupies a position with little or no achievement, he/she can start pointing at frivolities as achievement, for instance :
-We conducted exam
-There were lectures
-There was admission etc
which are normal events in academic settings.
I found it ridiculous, laughed and laughed when I stumbled over the frivolous achievements of Hannah Oziohu Abraham as compiled and titled: My stewardship.
Suffice to emphasize that the achievements the college recorded during the period under review, 2016 to 2021 are the efforts and brainwork of the “Royal-blooded and high intellectual capacity mother-led Governing Council” Hajiya Hauwa Kulu Ibrahim.
She opened her door open for the college community and 24hours a day and responds promptly to calls and situation whenever the need arise. She calmed down frayed nerves to ease and discard pains. The staff Union passed vote of confidence on the Council and wished their tenure is renewed and work with a different provost.
Below are the many fabrications in that submission by Mrs Hannah Oziohu Abraham:
1. *The college was peaceful throughout*
Reaction: The first students ever protest over poor leadership style and quality of Abraham took place. Also the first staff strike lasting about six months took place
The divide and rule method of Abraham caused segregation and disunity among the Nurses and non nurses staff till today that they don’t see themselves as friends or colleagues but antagonists, enemies and foes.
*where is the peace during your tenure*
2. *Sponsorship of staff for courses*
The college neither sponsored or give financial assistance to any of the staff undergoing further studies but purely self sponsored.
*How has this formed part of your achievement?* Huge money is usually voted annually for seminars but not released or expended on it but diverted to fictitious commitment which are mainly personal.
3. *Ongoing and completed projects :
Projects are purely awarded and supervised by the state Government. The only project done from the huge impress of N30million naira of 2018/2019 session released by the state Government was a 14 room office apartment initiated, supervised and completed by the Governing council
*How then is State government’s projects be your achievement*
4. *Increase in new intake*
How can Nursing and midwifery council newly introduced policy on admission for schools especially old ones that did not involve any special efforts be your achievement when you are frustrating the efforts of the State government by refusal to commence the midwifery and dental Nursing program already approved by the state government for take off since four years back. It is yet to see the light of the day as a result of the laxity and incompetence of the provost.
5. *Staff welfare:*
Could you recall that the only time staff promotion exercise was conducted (even though still not implemented) since the almost five years of been in the office as provost was only in 2018 as a result of pressure from the staff unions and since then, nothing till now despite that the exercise is supposed to be an annual one
6 . *Other maladministration include:*
1. No clear job description and allocation. The provost is the head of admin, finance as well as procurement officer. She directly handle
a)car purchases,
b)Library textbook and material,
c) Internet subscription
d) school uniform clothing and sewing
e) Major renovation work
To mention but few
7. *Construction of drainage channel*
This is amusing. What is the length of the drainage constructed compared to the ones executed by the past provosts with far less revenue
8) *Friendly environment for teaching and learning.*
Despite State government employing more staff for the college, the academic performance is on the decline because of her high handedness of the provost.
*Is it punishing the students to trek from Obangede to okene general hospital for practical that is friendly?* Haba fear God
9) *Academic performance*.
Has been on the decline since your coming as provost.
a) The highest number of failure in final exam ever (22 students)
b) The highest number to repeat a class ever ( about 25)
c) The highest number of admission racketeering (320+) weeding more than 220+ leaving 100 or less behind
d) The highest failure rate in internal exams .To mention but few
10. *Illegal and inflated award of contract*
fully paid for but unexecuted eg
i) over 2.5million naira solar power for borehole
ii) over 3million naira solar power for ICT
iii) establishment of e-library (not available for use)
iv) annual Internet subscription (never available for use).

From the above facts verifiable from the college community and various section of the college, Mrs Hannah Oziohu Abraham as provost performed extremely poor and woeful for almost five years in office.
She inflicted excruciating pains and mental torture on the staff and students. That is why *my stewardship* she published is full of fabrications and fall far below whact a serious administrator like her predecessors achieved in less than a year in office. May the College never have the type of Mrs Hannah Oziohu Abraham as head again, Amen.
We are not oblivious of the fact that His Excellency Alh Yahaya Adoza Bello has great penchant and high taste for quality and zero tolerance for incompetence and poor service delivery, it is on this note we are calling on *Kogi Soul Saver* the health and education friendly Governor to as a matter of urgency and necessity promptly intervene to save the college from decay and production of quacks so that his giant strides and huge investment in health sector will not be efforts in futility.
*A change of Abraham as provost, is a change for better and more competent Nurses for the state and beyond* as only Lion begets Lion while hyena begets hyena.
