Construction of the Iluke – Kiri – Abugi – Eggan road: To boost socio Economic Dev. of the people. – Controller FMW


 

The Construction of the Iluke – Kiri – Abugi – Eggan Federal road in Kogi State. When completed will impact on socio economic developement and Improve the means of livelihood of all the communities living along the corridors, especially the farmers.

Engr Bankole Owoniya representing the Controller, Federal Ministry of Works Lokoja gave the assurance at the sight inspection for the commencement of Iluke Kiri – Abugi – Eggan road.

Engr. Bankole who was the leader of the inspection team, said the road after completion will open up the axis to modern amenities”, commended the Federal Government for remembering the long abandoned Communities living along the corridors.

He said when completed, it would help in moving agricultural products to the urban areas, described the long abandoned Communities living on the Iluke – Kiri – Abugi – Eggan road as the untapped food basket of the nation.

Engr Bankole Owoniya assured that no stone would be left unturned in delivering a quality road to the people, described Setraco as a reputable company, urged them to sustain the confidence they have earned over the years.

In a remarks, the Setraco Engineer, Engr. Mathew Ugboh, opined that the Iluke-Aiyetoro – Abug – Eggan who are the benefiting communities will forever remember Setraco for quality road when completed.

Engr. Ugboh described Setraco as a Multinational Company reputed for quality Job, said the Iluke-Aiyetoro Abugi-Eggan road has never been asphalted, is 80km road long, would link Abugi Eggan through a bridge that would be constructed.

The Setraco Engineer disclosed that the completion period for the road is four years, reiterated the resolve of the company to deliver on the terms of contract as it relates to quantity and standard.

Also Speaking, the Senior Surveyor of Setraco, Mr Igwe Chikwendu, said “Setraco is reputed for good quality and long lasting roads constructed strictly to specification”

He described the Iluke-Aiyetoro Abugi-Eggan road contract as massive, commended the Federal Government for remembering the long forgotten people denied of civilization because of bad roads”

Mr Igwe Chikwendu said though the terrain is hilly and prone to flooding between the Abugi and Eggan end of the road, said when completed, it will turn the communities to a large business hub because the people are largely farmers”
