BIOGRAPHY OF HRH. Alh. Etila Ajeka (Onu Egume/okura District Paramount HEAD)
HRH. Alh. Etila Ajeka, ( 21st Onuh of Egume) is the only son of Prince Okoliko and also the eldest grandson of great king Ajeka omete, and great grand son of king omete.
HRH. Alh, Etila Ajeka before ascension to the throne of his forefathers was a patriotic member of the society whom was at peace with the strong and the weak, humility personified. he was actively an industrious young man who posses many attributes of a true leader. It will interest u to know that, Despite being the heir apparent to the throne of his ancestors, Etila Ajeka, did not arrived the hall of fame without passing through sweat, pain, dedication, action, courage, strength and handwork. He was a very serious farmer and while farming he also worked as a mason in ochaja boys and girls secondary school respectively.
If success was free, everyone would have it. But there are few successful individuals and many of them had put in enough productive work before they received anything in return, just like the story of Etila Ajeka who believed hard work must surely has a result. As a young man he sees farming as a surviving priority he has traveld to many part of the country, like the Yoruba land where he went for business, he will buy cola nuts in large quantity and supplies to the northern part of the country and buys tomatoes, Irish potatoes, onions etc and supplies to the Eastern and Western part of the country , as they said traveling is part of education, going out in search of greener pastures has privileged Etila Ajeka to speak the three major native language that is adopted in Nigeria, ‘Hausa, Yoruba, ibo’ (lingua Franca) he also speaks Idoma language to some extents, and ofcourse he can read and write.
Etila Ajeka upon returning to Igala land he get married to his first wife, late. Mrs, Iyaluwa Etila from Akwu Egume and got married to another after her death.
This time he was still striving with his family untill the royal contest in year 1986 after the passing on of his predecessor (late. HRH. Sule Abuh) as the most qualified grandson from the clan of Ajeka omelette, he was crown the Onuh of Egume and confirmed as the okura district Paramount ruler on the 1st July 1988.
the story of his victory as a king can not be completed without the made mentioning of an illustrious son of igala soil, his Excellency late. Prince Abubakar Audu whom was then a commissioner for finance and economic planning in the old benue state 1986 to 1988 before the cabinet was dissolved.
according to the customs and traditions of igala land, the title of Onuh Egume is historical and it is second to the throne of ata Igala kingdom. HRH. Etila Ajeka was crown in the year 1988, by late. HRM. Alh, Aliyu Obaje atta of Igala land, he is Uptill date, the oldest serving king in the history of Egume.
He attained office on second class capacity, until 2006 he was awarded a first class staff by the former governor of Kogi state Alh.ibrahim Idris Ibro, placing Etila Ajeka as the first Onuh Egume to bagged a first class stool.
As a Muslim he traveld to the holy Land Mecca in the year 2001. He is an easy going leader and his reign has been very peaceful, his prayers for a prosperous Egume land has been answered long time ago, as many indigene of Egume arrived in the corridors of Sucess during his reign. Etila Ajeka’s office is often decorated with several meritorious award by associations and organizations.
Onuh Egume is greeted as ‘Anuh’ or Anuh maikasa’ Meaning ‘greetings to the king of the land’.
As every king has different ecomium title Etila Ajeka is known as ‘onuh ófór kpai ule’ Ófó means justice and ule’ truthfulness.
Justice and truthfulness will always prevail.
