I recieved the news of Mallam Musa Usman’s death with shock wondering why exceptionally good persons do no live long.

When I assumed office October 2, 2016 as Director-general, Kogi State Bureau of Information Services and Grassroots Sensitisation, Usman was one of the staff of the estwhile Ministry of Information that visited me in his capacity as Chairman, Information Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

In the course of my interaction with him, I observed that he was well schooled, highly experienced, forthright and humble with his piercing velvet voice.

Very articulate and convincing, Usman displayed a mastery of his job as a thorough-bred journalist and a highly resourceful civil servant who knew his onions. Handsome and pragmatic, he was able to lead his chapel for years owing to his good and responsive leadership style that made all the Journalists in the Ministry work as members of an enviable family. And he graciously extended that to me during my tenure. Usman was a personality who can not be forgotten in a hurry.

As we mourn his exit from this world to the great Beyond, I pray Allah grant his soul eternal bliss while I condole his lovely family, the State Ministry of Information and Communication, the State Council of NUJ and the entire people of the State.

Mr. Abdulkarim Abdulmalik
Former Director-general
Kogi State Bureau of Information Services and Grassroots Sensitisation.
